Abstract

Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that play a crucial role in transmitting signals between neurons in the brain. Their imbalance or dysfunction is closely associated with various mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are among the most studied neurotransmitters influencing mood, cognition, and behavior. Understanding the neurochemical mechanisms behind these disorders allows for the development of more effective pharmacological and therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring neurotransmitter balance and improving mental well-being.
