Abstract
In clinical medicine, distinguishing between a sign and a symptom is fundamental for accurate diagnosis and effective patient care. A sign is an objective, observable, or measurable finding detected by a healthcare professional, while a symptom is a subjective experience reported by the patient. This paper explores the conceptual and practical differences between signs and symptoms, provides clinical examples, and highlights their combined importance in diagnostic reasoning. Understanding this distinction improves clinical accuracy, patient communication, and overall healthcare outcomes.
