Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of word formation in the English language as one of the key mechanisms of lexical development. The relevance of the topic is determined by the continuous expansion of vocabulary and the dynamic nature of modern English, especially in digital communication and media discourse. The aim of the research is to analyze the main types of word formation and to determine their productivity in contemporary usage. The paper examines such processes as affixation, compounding, conversion, abbreviation, and derivation. The research methods include the analysis of linguistic literature and the systematization of language examples taken from modern sources. The results of the study demonstrate that word formation plays a significant role in enriching the vocabulary and reflects ongoing linguistic changes.
