Abstract
The policy of building a “New Uzbekistan” is closely connected with the development of education, science, and innovative thinking. Scientific research plays an essential role in the modernization of society because it helps identify economic problems, improve management systems, and develop new approaches for sustainable development. This article examines the role of scientific research in the formation of a modern knowledge based economy in Uzbekistan. Particular attention is given to the contribution of higher education institutions and students in strengthening research culture and academic activity.
