Abstract
Effective physical education (PE) depends largely on the professional competence, pedagogical skills, and continuous development of PE teachers. This article examines modern approaches to training and professional development that empower teachers to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and student-centered physical education. It explores the role of pre-service preparation, in-service training, mentorship systems, and competency-based professional standards in improving teaching outcomes. Special attention is given to innovative practices such as technology-enhanced training, sports science integration, and evidence-based instructional strategies. The study highlights key challenges faced by PE educators, including limited resources, outdated curricula, and insufficient opportunities for skills upgrading. Recommendations are provided to strengthen professional development programs, support reflective teaching, and enhance the overall effectiveness of physical education in schools. The findings emphasize that sustained professional growth is essential for developing motivated, knowledgeable, and future-ready PE teachers.
