INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH AND KARAKALPAK LITERARY WORKS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Abstract

Intercultural communication is an essential aspect of literary studies because literature reflects the cultural values, traditions, communication styles, and social realities of different societies. English and Karakalpak literary traditions represent distinct historical and cultural experiences that influence the portrayal of communication, interpersonal relationships, and cultural identity in literary works. This article presents a comparative study of intercultural communication in English and Karakalpak literary works. The research examines how cultural values, verbal and nonverbal communication, social norms, hospitality, respect, and interpersonal relationships are represented in the literature of both cultures. Special attention is given to the role of literary texts in promoting intercultural understanding, empathy, and cultural awareness among readers. The article also analyzes similarities and differences in communication patterns reflected in English and Karakalpak literary traditions. The findings demonstrate that literature functions as a powerful medium of intercultural dialogue and cultural exchange. The study emphasizes the importance of comparative literary analysis in developing intercultural communication competence and strengthening mutual understanding in multicultural societies.
