Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the development and current state of dance pedagogy in Chinese higher education. It traces the evolution of dance as an academic discipline from its early institutionalization in the mid-20th century to the contemporary stage, characterized by the integration of traditional forms, innovative teaching methods, and digital technologies. The study examines the process of curriculum development, stages of institutional establishment, pedagogical approaches, and talent cultivation strategies. Special attention is given to balancing cultural heritage preservation with the development of professional competencies required in a globalized context. The research highlights how modern Chinese dance education integrates practice-oriented training, research-based learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the use of emerging technologies, forming a comprehensive pedagogical system. The findings demonstrate that contemporary dance education in China not only preserves the richness of traditional art forms but also prepares graduates for innovative, adaptive, and culturally literate participation in the global dance community.
