Abstract

This article focuses on the study of the formation of proper nouns in English and Uzbek languages from a comparative perspective. Proper nouns, as one of the essential categories of onomastics, reflect not only linguistic structures but also the cultural, social, and historical realities of a nation. The research provides a detailed overview of the main types of proper nouns, including personal names, geographical names, names of institutions, organizations, and cultural phenomena. Special attention is given to the historical traditions, morphological processes, and semantic changes that occur in the process of name formation.

The study also analyzes modern tendencies such as the borrowing of foreign names, the influence of globalization, and the creation of neologisms, which are observed in both English and Uzbek. Through comparative analysis, the article reveals significant similarities and differences in the formation of proper nouns in the two languages, highlighting how language and culture interact in shaping naming systems. The results of this study can contribute to the field of comparative linguistics, translation studies, and intercultural communication.
