Abstract

Teaching history is not merely about memorizing dates and events; it is a crucial tool for fostering critical thinking skills among students. This paper explores how history education can enhance analytical reasoning, evidence-based argumentation, and the ability to assess multiple perspectives. It highlights various teaching methodologies, including inquiry-based learning, debates, and primary source analysis, which contribute to the development of critical thinking. Additionally, it examines challenges in history education and offers recommendations for making history instruction more effective in promoting cognitive skills.
