Abstract

This thesis aims to delve into the intricate relationships that exist among linguistics, semantics, and pragmatics, which are fundamental branches of the broader field of language study. Linguistics, as the scientific study of language, encompasses various subfields such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Semantics focuses on the study of meaning in language at the level of words, sentences, and discourse, while pragmatics deals with how language is used in context to achieve communicative goals. This thesis seeks to elucidate how these disciplines intersect and influence each other, contributing to our understanding of human communication and language use.
