Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most influential technologies shaping contemporary higher education. AI-powered applications such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude AI, and Grammarly are transforming traditional approaches to academic writing by providing intelligent assistance throughout the writing process. These technologies enable learners to generate ideas, organize content, improve grammar, and receive immediate feedback, thereby promoting independent and student-centered learning. This paper explores the role of AI in enhancing the academic writing skills of future English language teachers. Based on recent international studies, the paper discusses the pedagogical opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations associated with AI integration in higher education. It argues that AI should be viewed not as a replacement for human thinking but as a pedagogical tool that supports creativity, critical thinking, and writing competence when used responsibly.
