PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY AND ITS ROLE IN ENSURING ECONOMIC GROWTH

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has fundamentally transformed the global economy, creating new opportunities for sustainable economic growth and innovation. The digital economy has become one of the main drivers of competitiveness, productivity, and social development in both developed and developing countries. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, blockchain, big data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital financial services are reshaping traditional business models and improving the efficiency of economic activities. As governments and businesses continue to embrace digital transformation, the importance of developing a resilient and inclusive digital economy has become increasingly evident.

This paper examines the prospects for the development of the digital economy and analyzes its contribution to ensuring economic growth. It explores the theoretical foundations of the digital economy, its key components, economic benefits, challenges, and future development trends. In addition, the study highlights the progress made by Uzbekistan in implementing digital transformation strategies and identifies the major obstacles that need to be addressed to achieve sustainable digital development. The findings suggest that investment in digital infrastructure, innovation, education, and cybersecurity is essential for maximizing the economic benefits of digitalization.
